Marlborough in New Zealand is renowned for its fine wines, gourmet restaurants, luxury accommodation and outdoor activities including hiking, mountain biking and sea kayaking, the Queen Charlotte Track and the spectacular Marlborough Sounds.
Traditionally a rural province, the Marlborough economy is now burgeoning with four major industries - wine, tourism, aquaculture (mussels) and forestry. Savour the spoils of the region when you visit with its cafe culture, wineries, gourmet restaurants, up market accommodation properties and mix this with the array of outdoor activities. The main town is Blenheim with its own airport with smaller settlements at Picton and Havelock, both seaport towns approximately 25 minutes drive from Blenheim. Picton is the main gateway to the Queen Charlotte Sound and the entry point for the regular inter-island ferry services while Havelock is main access to the Pelorus and Kenepuru Sound.
